Step aboard Pilgrim, a beautiful 58 foot sailing yacht, and experience Magnetic Island at a much slower pace. With small groups, premium local food and drinks, secluded bays and plenty of time to settle in, Pilgrim has nailed that relaxed kind of luxury that still feels completely at home on Maggie.

The Lunchtime Sailing Cruise is a four hour escape along the island’s coastline, with a maximum of 12 guests onboard. Sail to a secluded bay, usually Radical, Florence or Arthur depending on conditions, before dropping anchor for a swim and a long, lazy lunch. Local prawns and antipasto are served alongside organic Australian wines, local beers and non alcoholic drinks.

If golden hour is more your style, the Sip & Sail Sunset Cruise is a 1.5 to 2 hour sail across Cleveland Bay as the sun drops behind Magnetic Island’s granite peaks. There’s a local cheese platter to graze on, wine and beer flowing and only 12 guests onboard. Once a month, the timing coincides with the full moon, giving you sunset in one direction and a moonrise over the water on the sail home.

Pilgrim also offers private sailing charters, giving families, groups and celebrations the chance to have the yacht to themselves. From birthdays and anniversaries to proposals, weddings and corporate events, the team can tailor the timing, food and experience around your group.

All sailing experiences depart from Magnetic Island Marina in Nelly Bay, only a short walk from the ferry terminal.

Long Lunches in Secluded Bays: Sail the coastline, drop anchor somewhere beautiful, jump in for a swim and come back onboard to local prawns, antipasto and a cold drink. This is the kind of lunch reservation we can get behind.

Sunset & Full Moon Sails: Watching the sun disappear behind Maggie from the water is pretty special on its own. Time it with the monthly full moon cruise and you can watch the moon rise over the ocean on the way home.
