The ultimate Father’s Day ideas on Maggie!

We’ve put together the best ways to spend Father’s Day on Maggie Island so all you have to do is bring Dad and enjoy the good times!

1. Picnic Bay is gearing up for a festive Father’s Day celebration during Sealinks’ Magnetic Island Race Week!

From 9 am to 1 pm, the Esplanade will be buzzing with markets, free kids' activities, and a range of food trucks and stalls. Don’t miss the annual Sand Castle Competition from 9 am to 11 am, taking place right on the beach.

At 10:30 am, grab a spot on the jetty for The Island’s Great Inflatable Race, a fun event that’s always a crowd favourite.

In the afternoon, from 2 pm to 3 pm, the Mud Crab Races will be held to raise funds for the Magnetic Island Koala Hospital.

For live music, head over to Sea Salt Arcade between 2 pm and 5 pm to enjoy local favourites Dan and Lis, or check out the Surf Life Saving Club where Godfathers of Funk will be playing from 12 pm to 5 pm.

The SLSC will also be hosting a fundraising BBQ, and you can take advantage of specials all day at the Sea Salt Arcade Family, including Maggie Island Brewery, Restaurant Elsie, Lava Lava Magnetic Island, and Mamma Roma.

With a lineup like that, we don’t think Dad will be disappointed!

2. Magnetic Island Jet Skis

This one’s not just for Dad, but we guarantee he’ll be grinning from ear to ear! Hire a jet ski from the Magnetic Island Jet Skis team and take off in Horseshoe Bay. Their supervised jet ski hires give Dad the freedom to set the pace in Australia’s largest jet ski hire zone. Get the whole family involved and let the kids have a go, their hires offer the flexibility to come in and out for easy beach swap-outs, making it a fun day out for everyone!

3. Boating and Fishing

For many Dads, nothing beats a day on the water trying to reel in the big one! Fortunately, we’ve got plenty of options.

Long-term local, Cliffy, runs Get Around Boat Tours and Hire, and no one knows Maggie like he does. Spend the day on one of his boats, fishing, swimming, snorkelling, and exploring the island like only a local can!

If fishing’s your priority, Dom at Magnetic Island Fishing Charters offers small-group charters (up to 4) from Horseshoe Bay. Of the island’s 23 bays and beaches, 14 are fishable, offering the chance to cast your line around shipwrecks, shoals, rocks, reefs, and mangroves.

For a bigger adventure, check out Bulletproof Magnetic Island, the new kids on the block. Leaving from Nelly Bay Harbour, their boat caters to your family and mates. Choose a 4-hour inner reef discovery, an 8-hour outer reef trip, or customise your own charter. With all gear provided and a light lunch, Dad might just snag the catch of his dreams!

4. The Sky’s the Limit

For the ultimate Father’s Day experience, combine Pilgrim’s lunchtime cruise with a scenic helicopter ride from Nautilus Aviation. Start with a breathtaking flight showcasing the beauty of Magnetic Island—soar above pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant reefs. After the aerial tour, land at the Nelly Bay helipad and board Pilgrim Magnetic Island for a relaxing sailing trip to one of the island’s hidden, picturesque bays. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch with complimentary drinks. This perfect blend of air and sea will make for an unforgettable Father’s Day!

The Magnetic Island Country Club boasts a scenic 9-hole course (with the option to play 18) set against the beautiful backdrop of national parks. With a licensed bar on-site, it’s the perfect spot for him to spend a relaxing few hours.
